Welcome to Documenting Legacy – Let’s Get Started!

Documenting Legacy (now Wild Spruce Media) started as a project to help my father in law create a mini documentary of his life’s stories and lessons that shaped his life. He passed away before we could finish our project. And the fact that we never took the time to record the stories weighed heavily on me.

This especially took on new meaning after hearing from other people that felt the same way. This wish that they had taken the time to learn more about their family history, recorded a loved ones story or organized some of the pictures and items that got left behind.

The beginning is always today. – Mary Shelly

No more procrastinating on documenting your legacy!

What started as a passion project is now a bit of a mission to reduce stress and overwhelm when documenting your families’ history.

Filmmaker and Storyteller

Tami Lynn Ross As a documentary filmmaker, I love telling stories.

Everyone has a story. It doesn’t take more than asking the right questions to hear a fascinating piece of personal history.

Social media posts inundate us with each others lives. Yet our personal history and family culture is lost when generations pass away.

According to financial reporting, 70% of families lose their wealth by the second generation AND losing an inheritance may be correlated to a lack of understanding of how the money was created in the first place.

While Documenting Legacy isn’t about the money, it is an interesting way to understand just one impact of not learning about the contributions of members of your family.

Documenting Legacy (Wild Spruce Media)

My mission is to help create a path to record our stories. Not just the edited versions of our online selves. But the origin stories. And the history of why we do the things we do. By sharing tips and information that encourages discussions about family culture we use our knowledge to ensure generations of family members know where they came from and feel connected to their past as well as their future.

From a one on one to group sessions I can help you get motivated and stay inspired to document your families’ stories. And if you have no interest in DIY, I’m happy to work with you to find your own path of documenting your legacy.

After all, we, need to tend to our own myth… 😉

Let’s start talking,

Tami Lynn
