There is nothing like a song to bring you back to a specific moment or memory.
I love the power of music to transport us. I feel it in the very moment and at a live concert I feel the energy of it all and can get completely lost in the music.
I also love the randomness of it all. Recently I was watching a show and The Gambler by Kenny Rogers came on and I knew all the words. I haven’t heard that song in years.
The Song Remembers When
Pauline lived across the street from my grandmother’s house. I would run over there all the time just to visit, draw pictures, play her Hawaiian guitar and of course listen to music. Her son’s record collection included Kenny Roger’s album and I would play it on repeat with headphones on. AND she would let me sing it at the top of my lungs sitting, off key, on the living room floor while she watched her soaps five feet away. Can you image?
A few snips of a song and I’m thinking about all those afternoons. This song connects me to a women that was patient and caring and allowed me to disrupt her world on a regular basis.

Using a loved one’s favorite music in a video piece can be a beautiful tribute.
But you may come across issues if you plan to upload your video to a site like YouTube or Vimeo. Using a licensed piece of music can mean they can pull the video, mute the audio or worse charge you a fine.
