Paris adventure for Christmas, yes please!
We are waiting in Chicago (6 hour layover in exchange for $450 tickets) and I’m watching my 12 year old practice her Irish Dance steps in a corner near our gate. Happy and excited that this idea, a few years old now, is turning into reality.
Reflecting on 2018
2018 was an amazing year of growth, storytelling, film making and leaning into my dreams. I’m proud of my work this year. But it didn’t come without opportunities for growth, a severe panic attack or sacrificing time with family.
I’m finally learning how to balance guilt with grace and forge ahead. I realize all the time away from home and Face-timing at weird hours means we get to spend this month, yes a month, in Paris. A wintry, maybe wet and cold Paris, but Paris!
Adventure
Helping you tell your stories often comes down to a very clear vision of how you live your values.
While we can tell a chronological story, it doesn’t have the same impact and intention that digging into our values and understanding how they play out in our daily lives does.
Adventure, specifically exploring, is a value of mine. Exploring who we are and who we are in the world excites me. Maybe it’s no surprise that my desire to travel is linked to this value, but it goes deeper. Its understanding how everything I know to be true can be turned on it’s head, just by traveling.
This desire for perspective and connection fuels my travel. And it fuels the joy I have in sharing it.
Adventure in Paris
The first time I saw Paris I fell in love. Straight to the heart, couldn’t sleep, didn’t want to miss a square inch of time with her, kind of love. And I still feel that way. But this time I’m extremely excited to share it with my daughter. No expectation, just excited to share, the beauty, the art, the language. And maybe getting away from something that is so familiar that we can connect on another level.
She and I were in Paris before. I was pregnant the last time I took this trip. I can’t believe it’s been 13 years. Now she is taller than me and old enough to make a list of things she wants to see while in Paris. I almost can’t wait to hear about her reflections on this city I love. Will she like it, love it, hate it??? So many possibilities to wonder.
But first Paris!
Blue skies,
